The format war between HD-DVD and Blu Ray is coming to a head with Blu Ray taking the win but Microsoft could care less. There were rumors that Microsoft was going to sell a Blu Ray player that would hook up externally but since hearing that rumor I have heard nothing else to back it up. What I have gotten from the Gamespot forum and Gamespot home page is that the Xbox 360 is going to stick to what it knows and continue support the HD-DVD format.
I see a future of HD-DVDs that are only available for select products, the Xbox 360 being one of them. I have some Xbox 360 Gamespot news to report though having to do with what Microsoft's future move will be:
They will begin to sell games through their online Live forum. High Definition games will be available for download if stores decide to stop carrying the discs. Even if they still sell them, games will be marketed to buy through online measures. I wonder how long a game download would take? What do you think of this idea?
